Trumpeter and Composer/Arranger Jon-Paul Frappier is a Detroit native and has a versatile background of Funk, Soul, Motown, Latin, Jazz, Pop, Blues, Gospel, Classical Music and Broadway Shows. He has performed and recorded professionally for over 25 years with top music industry artists including; Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Destiny’s Child, The Temptations, The Four Tops, My Morning Jacket, Sharon Jones, Alicia Keys and The Nashville Chamber Orchestra.
He has played, arranged for thousands of live shows and hundreds of recordings. He has performed at The Hollywood Bowl, The Staples Center, The Montreal Jazz Festival, Austin City Limits Festival, and 10 International Tours. He lives and works in Nashville, TN as an active session and touring musician and composer/arranger. He arranged strings and horns for Johnny Reid’s 2012 platinum recording and Juno Album of the year “Fire It Up.” J.P.’s 2012 solo release “Funkybrass” as well as the 2010 Brass Christmas Cd display his range and versatility as a Trumpet Player, Arranger, Composer, Artist and Producer. T.V. appearances include CMA Artist Of The Year, Johnny Reid PBS Special, ACM Awards, Channel Plus. Paris, FR. West Side Story (PBS Detroit.) and HBO Comic Relief.
Jon-Paul holds a B.A. in Trumpet Performance and Jazz Studies from Oakland University in Rochester, MI and did Graduate Studies at The Center For Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. Jon-Paul studied composition with Stanley Hollingsworth; Acclaimed composer and student of Gian Carlo Menotti and orchestrator for Samuel Barber. He also studied commercial arranging with Ed Nuccilli; Motown Arranger (Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5.)
